On behalf of Bitani Chapter, Vice Chief Lucas Stauffer presented Ryan with a Certificate of Recognition for this great accomplishment.

Bitani Chapter held its annual "Family Day" at Holiday Park in Carlsbad on August 25, 2007. The purpose for the "Family Day" was to introduce the "Order of the Arrow" to the families of new and old Arrowmen. The Chapter officers exposed the families to OA history, costuming, cub scout ceremonies, and choker making. To wrap up the afternoon, the arrowmen and their families participated in various games and competitions. Congratulations to the following winners: Arrowman Andoni Garcia - OA Trivia; Arrowman Andrew Terselic and his brother Jon - Water Balloon Toss; Arrowman Alex DeAnda and his family - Relay Race; Arrowman Timo Rempher and his Dad - Horseshoes. A final congratulations goes to the youth Arrowmen. In an expected outcome, Chapter Chief Vincent Kyamko-yap, Vice Chief Lucas Stauffer, Secretary Jordan VanderWerken, and Treasurer Tim Cabal led the youth arrowmen to a stunning victory over EVERYBODY ELSE in an exciting game of Ultimate Frisbee.
***GOOD TIMES WERE HAD BY ALL.****

Naabaahii Chapter

9/9: Naabaahii held their annual Ordeal on June 15 and 16 at the Youth Aquatic Center on Fiesta Island. See pictures

43 Arrowmen were inducted: 14 for Allohak; 4 for Kah-Shinni; 13 for Hadaazli-to; 10 for Naabaahii and 2 for Wulinaxin.

The candidates prepared the facility for summer camp which included the very famous cleaning of the drains (everyone's favorite job - ha ha)! The ordeal ended with a BBQ feast on the patio overlooking the bay.

It was great to see the camaraderie and all the new friendships that began on that memorable weekend.

Congratulations to all our new Arrowmen and a big thank you to all those wonderful people who helped make this event a successful one and keep Naabaahii going!

Also:

September 13 was Naabaahii's "Back to OA Night". We had a Weenie Roast/Potluck and fun and games with all the families!
Next meeting will be on Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 pm at the Youth Aquatic Center on Fiesta Island. If you have any questions, please email NaabaahiiOA@hotmail.com

Wulinaxin Chapter

9/12: Summer Time and the Living is Easy?

                                                                                                   By Wulinaxin Adviser Mrs. Flores

NOT!   The Wulinaxin Chapter was in full swing for activities this summer.  June found us hosting a huge Family Picnic at Old Poway Park.  New Ordeal Arrowmen, along with their families, got introduced to the Wimachtendienk of the Order of the Arrow.  Forty Youths played a great soccer game, with Lodge Chief Bobby James and Chapter Chief Jeff Hissem heading up the teams.  The twenty-three Adult Arrowmen along with our fifty-five guests mingled about, under the aroma of Ball-park size Hot-dogs and Quarter-pounder size Hamburgers being prepared by Chefs: Mr. Don Flores ADC-Scripps Mesa, Mr. Glenn Flaherty T-479, Mr. Mike Garcia T-1212, and Mr. Jon Sivers T-663.   Joshua Nooe T-680, Mrs. Diane Hadley T-648, and Mrs. Dana Flaherty T-479 did a great job of setting up the Registration table, Serving table and Trading Post.  Guests marveled at how well everything was organized and how 118 hungry people were served within minutes of getting in line.  Of course, no picnic would be complete without dessert.  Two ½ sheets of chocolate and white cake were devoured.  The evening ended with the Mrs. Flores’ give away of green water bottles compliments of Mr. John Veneziano V-1212 and the Order of the Arrow huge circle and OA song.  Congratulations to Troop-479 who won the Attendance Certificate for having the most members present.

July found us at our usual meeting place, the Mira Mesa Senior Citizen Center (across from Mira Mesa High School) for Water-Bottle Rocketry under the direction of non-member Mr. James Aparoe, a friend of Daniel Poirier T-617.  He gave hand-outs and allowed the Arrowmen a chance to shoot-off the water filled soda bottles, while the Wulinaxin Officer: Brian McMichael and Lodge Officers: Bobby James, Tim Hissem, and D.J. Hanon did their best to catch them (the plastic bottles) before they (the plastic bottles) landed.   We did this activity out in the open field where no rope was used.  We wanted a safe haven for Chief Bobby! Then, much to the delight of the attendees, an Ice Cream social was had.   This time Congratulations went to Troop-663 for having the most members in attendance.

In August we relocated to the Youth Aquatic Center on Fiesta Island for an evening of free lance Kite Flying in the parking lot.  The sky actually saw kites flying under the skilled hands of Arrowmen manning the strings to which kites were attached!   Wulinaxin Vice-Chief Armando Carvaho and I were amazed at the site, for truly, we didn’t think it could happen, but it did happen!  Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hadley staked out an empty beach fire-ring, and so, when the sun was setting, we moseyed over to build a “true Boy Scout bonfire”.  The coat-hanger stakes were brought out along with the marshmallows, graham crackers, and Hershey’s Bars to make the best Smores ever!  Once again the closing circle was made and the OA song was sung.  See, this way the Ordeal Members are traveling the road to Brotherhood without too much of a hassle!   Troop-680 received the Attendance Certificate for this month.  Way to go Troop-680

Yes, Summer time, where the living is easy, is over, and now, it is time to get back to the basics.  We had the September 8th, gathering of Arrowmen for our Community Service Project in Scripps Ranch.  Thank you, Chief Bobby James, for organizing this event.   So now, the Wulinaxin Chapter will be heading back to the Mira Mesa Senior Citizen Center on September 20th, for another evening of fun and planning.  We will have our Fifth Annual Catapult Contest.  So, get ready to participate.  Plaques and prizes will be given to the Youth Arrowmen who has the most unique catapult, the catapult that shoots the large marshmallow the farthest, the catapult that shoots the small marshmallow the farthest and the most decorated catapult.  Remember the size limit is 18 inches.  For the cheerleaders we might even have a treat!  So, practice!

9/9: Congratulations to Wulinaxin for having 19 arrowmen go through Brotherhood last Sunday.
