Order of the Arrow Official Song

The Order of the Arrow song, "Firm Bound In Brotherhood", was written by E. Urner Goodman, one of the creators of the Order of the Arrow, sometime between 1915 and 1921. Goodman adapted his lyrics to the tune of a hymn written in 1842, "God the Omnipotent," found in 1920's Presbyterian hymnals. The music of "God the Omnipotent" was written by Alexis Lvov. Lvov composed the music in 1833 for the patriotic Russian song, "God Save the Tsar." "God Save the Tsar" was the Russian National Anthem until the Bolshevik Revolution in October 1917. Firm bound in brotherhood, gather the clan
That cheer-ful service brings to fel-low man.
Circle our council fire, weld tightly every link
That binds us in brotherhood, Wimachtendienk.

Words by E. Urner Goodman (1921 or earlier)
